Rev. James L. Voigtmann, 72, of Springfield, passed away on April 18, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 25, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Lee Voigtmann and Mary Meeks. James married Brenda Nielsen in Tuscon, Arizona on April 14, 1973 and she survives him.
Rev. Voigtmann is also survived by his children: Leighanne (William) Bonnett of Springfield, Jacob (Bryan Hantle) Voigtmann of Springfield, Jenna (Clayton) Hurley of Panama City, Florida, Marleigh (Jude) Andrews-Conrad of Springfield and Jamie Voigtmann of O’Fallon, Illinois and five grandchildren: Mikkaela Brown, Ashley Bonnett, Annastasiya Bonnett, Edward Bonnett and Neilsen Andrews-Conrad. He was preceded in death by one son Joseph Voigtmann and infant quintuplets: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Esther.
James received his Architectural Degree from the University of Arizona and his Pastoral Education Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Rev. Voigtmann’s most recent ministry was serving as chaplain at Taylorville Correctional Facility.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday April 20, 2024 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran High School:
