James "JP" Patrick Jones

JP was born on November 3, 1943, in Knoxville, TN, the son of James Edward and Doris Lucille Yocom Jones. He married Carolyn Faye Phillips Siddons on May 6, 2000, in Reno, NV.

JP was a 1962 graduate of Lanphier High School. He attended the MO School of Mines and Metallurgy and then went on to earn his MBA from University of Illinois. JP was the owner of Nogle and Black in Champaign, IL. He later moved back to Springfield and worked for E.L. Pruitt Mechanical Contractors. JP took great pride in his work. He was a member of Island Bay Yacht Club. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, anything related to Ireland, fishing with his sons and grandsons, and spending time with his wife and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jones of Springfield; children, J.T. (Angela) Jones of Pittsburgh, PA and their children, Aiden, Patrick, Ethan, and Owen; Stacey (Simeon) Schnapper of New York, NY; Jessica (Ryan) Moore of Champaign, IL and their children, Elliot and Julia; Darren (fiancée, April Tauzin) Siddons of New Orleans, LA; Derek (Nikki) Siddons and their children, Skyler, Brett, and Ayden; two sisters, Dawn (Jim) Ketchum of Petersburg, IL and Georgina (Michael Sheehan) Knox of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos Avenue, Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Bergbower, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church or the Illinois English Bulldog Rescue.
