James (Jim) Richard Miller

Jim was born on August 2, 1947, in Springfield, the son of John (Nonnie) and Mary Miller. Jim married Pamela (Pam) Piper on October 30, 1965.

Jim was a graduate of Cathedral-Griffin High School, class of 1965. He retired from Illinois Bell-Ameritech after 35 years. Throughout Jim’s lifetime, he was a member of the St. Aloysius Parish and a Eucharistic Minister at Christ the King Parish. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, basketball and football coach at St. Aloysius, Board of Director member at Heartland Credit Union, Secretary at the Illinois Bell Golf League, and a leader in the Springfield Parkinson Support Group.

He was preceded in death by his father, John (Nonnie); mother, Mary Miller; and grandson, Andrew J. Davidson.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Miller; two sons, Richard (wife, Kristina) Miller and Jeffrey (wife, Michelle) Miller; two daughters, Jenny (husband, Mike) Vanpreter and Greta (husband, Paul) Davidson; four brothers, John (wife, Pat), Tom (wife, Anne), Willie, and Carl Miller; three sisters, Mary (husband, Ray) Long, Margaret (husband, David) Metz, and Joanne Meierdirks; grandsons, Sam, Ben, Isaac, Max, Ajay, Dylan, Ryan, and Jason; great-grandson, Zeppelin; granddaughters, Abby and Isabel; and great-granddaughter, Scarlett.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Funeral Mass: 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield with Rev. Clint Honkomp, celebrant. For those who wish to stream the ceremony, you may do so by visiting https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/6854329038.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.

Burial at Calvary Cemetery will be at a later date.
