He was born in Jacksonville on August 17, 1936, the son of Milton and Neva Surratt Hyatt. He married Yvonne Putnam on May 2, 1975, and she preceded him in death.
Jim graduated from Jacksonville High School with the class of 1954. He worked as an engineering technician with IDOT. Jim loved his family and cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Kevin Hyatt.
Jim is survived by his granddaughter, Jasilyn Lonero of St. Louis; many friends from the Animal Protective League; and his loving dog, “Shadow”.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
Private burial will be held at Union Chapel Cemetery in Girard, IL.
