Jim was born November 26, 1947, in Springfield, IL, the son of John and Dorothy (Bryant) Eagan.
He graduated from Lanphier High School in 1965 and went on to receive his associate’s degree from Lincoln Land Community College. Jim proudly served his country through the Illinois Army National Guard. He worked for the Springfield Sanitary District as a chemist for over 30 years. Jim was an avid golfer, loved sports, traveling, and enjoyed being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Sandra Pharris and Cheryl Eagan.
Jim is survived by his son, John (Michelle) Eagan of Springfield; daughters, Jill (Nick) Williams of Springfield and Jen (Tim) Whitehead of Geneva, IL; eight grandchildren, Gage, Jordan, Avery, Dylan, Ella, Gavin, Harper, and Emma; great-grandchild, Phoenix; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was the best dad and grandpa (Papa) that you could ever ask for. He was incredibly loyal to his family and never missed a birthday celebration or event that his kids or grandkids were involved in. He always volunteered to be the coach of any team, the cub scout leader, or was just there to help out and cheer on his kids.
He was so handy and could fix anything. He was the first person his kids went to for advice if their car was not working or something in their house needed to be fixed. He had a strong work ethic and took great care of his family. Even as his health declined, he never complained and always kept his sense of humor.
