Henrietta "Jody" Cunningham

She was born on August 20, 1932 in Springfield, daughter of the late Henry James and Elsie Mae (Kisner) McCafferty. She married Richard Duane Cunningham on Feb. 11, 1958 in Springfield and he preceded her in death.

Jody worked as a Registered Nurse at SIU School of Medicine, retiring in 1999. Previously she had worked for Dr. Henry F. Berchtold for more than 30 years. She enjoyed bowling and bowled in leagues for many years. She loved animals and was a proud supporter of the APL (Animal Protective League) here in Springfield and she loved and devoted herself to her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Jimmy McCafferty, Linda McCafferty, Leslie McCafferty, Rhea Jean Bartlett, Douglas Gray, Jo Marie Patarozzi, Beth Anne Wagner, Micheal Shawn Gray, Michael Allen Cunningham, Karl Cunningham, Paula Cunningham, Jackie Cunningham, Greg Cunningham, and Kelly Bounds. Jody is also survived by 26 great nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Mary Gray and 2 brothers, Hank and Dick McCafferty.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 1 pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Following the graveside service at Camp Butler, the family would like all their relatives and friends to join them for a gathering at the Northender's VFW on Stockyard Road.
