Harold L. Rhoades, 62, of Springfield, passed away at 6:19 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his residence. Harold was born July 15, 1948 in Pana, the son of Forrest and Rosemary Stauder Rhoades. Harold graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1966. He retired from the IL State Police as a Computer Software Specialist. Harold was known to his family and friends as being funny, witty, loving, and generous. He volunteered for Helping Hands, Phoenix Center, Ronald McDonald House, and was a member of GL AAD. In his spare time, he enjoyed arranging flowers, doing crafts and was excellent at writing letters. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Chris (companion, Amy Thompson) Rhoades of Springfield; his daughter, Allison Rhoades of West Memphis, AR; one brother, Michael (wife, Pat) Rhoades of Hillsboro; one sister, Marilyn Rhoades of Springfield; one aunt, one niece, one nephew, one great-niece; and several cousins including, Carol Sue (husband, Larry) Mitts of Springfield. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
