Harold Garth Cantrell, 79, of Springfield, died at 3:18 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at the Villa East Healthcare Center in Sherman. Harold was born February 17, 1924 in Eldorado, the son of Carmel and Tina Upchurch Cantrell. He married Betty Spurlock on March 25, 1943. He was employed as a pipefitter for many years and also was involved with the Labor Relations at Firestone for twenty years. He was a member of Elliott Avenue Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his son: Scott Cantrell, parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife: Betty of Sherman, daughter: Pamela S. (husband, Robert E., Jr. ) Lee of Springfield, two sisters-in-law: Ruth Cantrell of Decatur and Maxine Cantrell of Champaign and several nieces and nephews. Remains were cremated and a memorial service may be held at a later date.
