Goldie Evalyn Bell, 78, of Springfield, IL died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at her home. Goldie was born November 13, 1924 in Alicia, Arkansas, daughter of Raymond and Ethel Bertha May Bobbitt Shreeves. She married Grover T. Bell on May 9, 1944 in Auburn, IL; he preceded her in death on April 14, 1999. Goldie had been employed at Allis Chalmers from 1944-1946 as a forklift operator. In the early 1950’s she managed a Cozy Dog restaurant in Springfield. She later worked at Rutledge Manor as a nurse’s aide for 10 years and various other nursing homes in Springfield. She was a lifelong member of Churches of Christ and a member of Clearlake Church of Christ since 1966. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother: Willis A. Shreeves and a sister: Virginia M. Shreeves. She is survived by three sons: Dannie T. (wife, Beverly) Bell of Kisumu Kenya, East Africa, Paul P. (wife, Patricia) Bell and Steven R. (wife, Kathleen) Bell both of Springfield, IL; one daughter: Evalyn P. (husband, Dewayne) Donley of Black Jack, MO; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters: Mildred S. Goad of Paragould, AR, Clara E. (husband, William) Donnelly of Port Angeles, WA, Mary S. (husband, Jack) Gardner of Morganfield, KY, Shirley A. (husband, Jerry) Kersey of Paragould, AR; six brothers: Leroy Shreeves of Lafe, AR, William R. (wife, Margaret) of Marmaduke, AR, Fred R. (wife, JoAnn) of Mt. Horeb, WI, Richard M. Shreeves of Paragould, AR, Edward L. (wife, Linda) Shreeves of Paragould, AR and Bobby J. (wife, Vicki) Shreeves of Holly Springs, MS and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 23, 2003. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rex Crossland officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Clearlake Church of Christ for the Kenya Mission, 2224 E. Clearlake Ave., Springfield, IL 62703.
