Glen was born on May 31, 1931, in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Elfrey Ellis and Maggie (Oaks) Wilson. He married Frances Turner on June 16, 1956, in Jacksonville.
Glen was a 1949 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He served in the Illinois National Guard, then the US Air Force during the Korean War. Glen was employed by CIPS for 37 years, retiring in 1994. He was past president of Cy Young Little League and a member of American Legion Post 32. Glen enjoyed watching baseball, specifically the Dodgers, fishing, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Woodrow, James, Ellis, Elza, Henry and Howard Wilson, Millie Morris, and Margaret Jobe.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Wilson of Springfield; children, Carol Wilson, Cheryl (Dan) Formea, and Lynda Wilson, all of Springfield, and John (Michelle) Wilson of Windsor, IL; grandchildren, Ryan (Christi) Wilson, Amy Carr, Kymberly Eades, Jason Wilson, Tia Wilson, Brian (Chelsea) Wilson, Brett Wilson, Dylan (Shelby) Smith, and Nick (Kait) Smith; many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery with military honors.
