Florence F. Tomlinson, 92, of Springfield died Monday, May 19, 2014 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village with her oldest daughter Judy at her side. Florence was born May 1, 1922 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Conrad and Mildred Pasewalk Fox. She married Charles W. Tomlinson February 27, 1944 in Madison, WI who preceded her in death November 16, 2004. Florence was a graduate of West High School in Madison and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry. She and Chuck raised four children, instilling in them an appreciation of art, music, good food, travel, education and achievement. Florence was mainly a homemaker but was also a substitute teacher and worked for H & R Block. She was a phenomenal oil painter, a skilled seamstress and an avid bridge player and reader. Florence enjoyed playing the piano and violin as well as volunteering for various charities. She was a member of Cachet Club and PEO Chapter EQ. She and Chuck loved opening their home to family and friends for parties large and small, and she is especially remembered for the 30 years of family 4th of July reunions hosted at her home on Lake Springfield. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Charles Douglas Tomlinson; two sisters, Mildred Schweitzer and Dorothy Ward; and one brother, William Fox. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Rusch of Springfield and Pam Tomlinson (husband, Chuck Young) of Washington D.C.; twin sons, Gregory C. (wife, Margo) Tomlinson, M.D. of Jacksonville, FL and Douglas F. (wife, Linda) Tomlinson of Waunakee, WI and; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion Fox Mongue of Lake Zurich, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Most recently, her children were all with her to celebrate her 92nd birthday. Memorial Gathering: The family will receive friends from 3:00 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Racine, WI will be at a later date.
