Evelyn was born in Olney, IL on January 15, 1912, the daughter of Charles and Helen Hough Spelman. She married W. Stewart Williams, who preceded her in death in 1973.
Evelyn worked for a variety of retail stores in Springfield throughout her life, and for a time she sold Mary Kay cosmetics. She was as an active member of First United Methodist Church, singing in their choir for many years. She was also a member of Chapter HU of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and a past member of the King’s Daughters.
Evelyn had many interests. She enjoyed bowling and played in a league until she was 94. She also loved to play bridge, as well as travel, sing, and go on cruises.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W. Stewart; daughter-in-law, Linda Williams; and all of her siblings.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Charles Williams of Springfield; three grandchildren, Cameron (wife, Jenny) Williams of Farmer City, Aaron (wife, Emily) Williams of Phoenix, AZ, Brandon (wife, Stacy) Williams of Tucson, AZ; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield with Rev. Bennie Fisher officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
