Evelyn R. Barker, 93, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Tuesday February 7, 2012 at her home.
She was born August 15, 1918 the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Selinger) Jacobs. She was a graduate of Springfield High School. She married Frank E. Barker in Springfield, March 13, 1937 and he preceded her in death November 24, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers.
Evelyn was a homemaker. She was a member of Westside Christian Church. She was also a member of the U N I Sunday School Class and Charlie's Angels there at the church. She and her husband volunteer at the Lake Springfield Christian Camp for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (husband Michael) Kane of Rochester, IL and Nancy (husband Paul) Klockenga of Daytona Beach, FL. There are 7 grandchildren, 9, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where visitation will be on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 11 am until time of funeral services there at 12 noon. Rev. Vaughn Beeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
