Elaine was born on October 14, 1936, in Springfield, the daughter of Coy Eugene and Jessie Catherine (Stevenson) Lynch. She married William L. “Bill” Roth, Sr. on January 24, 1959, at St. Joseph’s Church. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2016.
Elaine graduated from Lanphier High School in 1954, where she was active in their choir. She began working for Memorial Medical Center when she was 15 years old as an elevator operator before becoming a registered nurse. Elaine worked for Memorial from 1957 to 1994. She was an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was involved in their choir as well as being a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Elaine was also a member of Ashland Women’s Club, and the Bridge and Pinochle Clubs. She volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels and was a PSR Religion teacher and AC Central Kindergarten volunteer. Elaine was an avid reader, loved music, playing cards, and singing. She had a great love of flowers which she inherited from her Grandma Stevenson. She was also a social butterfly and loved spending time with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Maxine Burnstine.
She is survived by her children, Teresa Roth of Chandlerville, William L. Roth, Jr. of Springfield, Lisa (Larry) Cave of Ashland, Cynthia (Kevin) Quinn of Longwood, FL, Amy Roth of Ashland, and Beth (Robert) Vandenbergh of Ashland; grandchildren, Curtis (April) Cave of Sherman, Adam (Ashley) Cave of Winder, GA, Alaina (Wes) Griffin of Ashland, Courtney Cave of Jacksonville, Connor and Merrick Quinn of Longwood, FL, Christian Roth of Ashland, Nicholas (Amanda) Vandenbergh of Tallula, and Kolby and Abigail Vandenbergh of Ashland; and great-grandchildren, Ari, Parker, MaKinley, and Piper Vandenbergh, Lincoln Cave, Sydney and Caroline Cave, and Lilah, Beau, and Tucker Griffin.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 800 W. Main St., Ashland, IL. A Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Daren J. Zehnle, J.C.L., K.C.H.S. officiating. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.
Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in Ashland.
