Eileen Rovey, 87, of Springfield, went to her eternal rest at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Villa Health Care Center East. She was a resident of Brenden Gardens Independent Living Facility and temporarily residing at Villa Health Care East while rehabilitating from surgery.
She was born Margaret Eileen Burke on October 12, 1921 in Farmersville. She married Norman Rovey, also of Farmersville, on November 26, 1941. He preceded her in death in May 2007.
The Roveys moved to Springfield upon Norman's return from WWII where they owned and operated N.F. Rovey Water Co. and N.F. Rovey and Son Excavating Co. in the Springfield area. Eileen was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. In addition to being a loving wife and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Eileen devoted much of her life to caring for two aunts, an uncle, her mother-in-law and a cousin in their declining years. She was her family's angel of mercy.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Sue Casey (husband, Michael) of Springfield; her son, Fred Rovey of Springfield; grandchildren, Michael Casey II (wife, April) of Rochester, Kamela Baggette (husband, David) of Maryville and Chelle Rae Rovey of California; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Brian Baggette, Brice and Brock Casey.
The family will receive friends from 4:30-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola, celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Martins Cemetery in Farmersville.
