Edwin F Ryan

Edwin F. “Ed” Ryan, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Waverly, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Ed was born in Jacksonville, IL April 28, 1926 the son of Morgan and Lena Mollenbrock Ryan. His parents and two brothers; John Ryan and James Ryan preceded him in death.

He graduated from Waverly High School in 1944 and served in the United States Navy as a radioman. He was the manager of the Lick Elevator (formerly the Whalen Elevator) for many years retiring in 1987. Ed was a life member of the Elks Lodge #682 in Jacksonville and the Knights of Columbus Council 2321 and for over 64 years he was a member and past commander of the Waverly American Legion Post 262. He was a member of St. Agnes Parish.

Ed married Dorothy Antey of New Berlin July 19, 1975 and she survives. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces great nephews and great great nephew.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd where a prayer service will be at 4:00 pm Thursday October 28, 2010 with visitation following until 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday October 29, 2010 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 420 Wyatt St. Franklin, IL Fr. Robert Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Franklin, IL Military honors will be provided by the Waverly American Legion Post 262 at the graveside.
