Donald was born August 21, 1932, in Springfield, the son of George W. and Dorothy M. Lawson Workman. He married Joan M. Crawford on November 25, 1950, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on July 22, 2018.
Donald proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Meadow Gold Dairy as a milkman and then proceeded to Prudential Insurance for many years as a very successful salesman. Donald volunteered for many years as a Samaritan at St. John’s Hospital. He also enjoyed working many years as a starter at the Rail Golf Course. Donald was an avid golfer, family man and devoted husband and father.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, David Workman; and brother, James Workman.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Karen) Workman of Springfield; daughters, Nancy (Charles) Courtwright of Dawson and Diane (Dan) Mounce of Spaulding; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and brother, George Workman of California.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 South Sixth Street, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th Street, Springfield, with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon C.R.S., Ph.D., celebrant.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
