Don was born in Bluffs IL, March 12, 1939 the son of Raleigh and Ada Ruth (Hammond) Green. He married Barbra Goulden in Springfield, June 22, 1958 and she survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Adina (Steve) Dunn and Dora (Joseph) Crenshaw both of Springfield; his three grandchildren: Mitch (Robin) Dunn, Ryan (Katie) Schuh and Eric (Kitty) Dunn; his six great grandchildren, Garrett Dunn, Ryan Schuh Jr, Amelia Schuh, Chloe Dunn, Wesley Dunn and William Schuh and his brother, Thomas (Kathy) Green of Olympia, WA His parents and sister-in-law "Dottie" preceded him in death.
He began his career with Myers Brothers Department Store as a shipping clerk. He then worked for Jaeger Beauty and Barber Supply retiring as the warehouse foreman after 22 years of service. After retirement, Don, not one to sit around, worked at various businesses lastly at the Hilton Hotel where he served in supply management. He loved sports of all kinds. However, he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed golf and achieved a hole in one at Pasfield Park Golf Couse. He was of the Methodist faith.
Cremation Rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced.
