Dominic “Dom” Joseph Greco, 79, of Glenarm, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on November 9, 1943, in Springfield, IL the son of Dominic J. and Elizabeth (Killen) Greco. On February 8, 1964, he married Margaret “Margie” Ryan at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield.
Dom is survived by his wife Margie; seven children, Dominic (Myra) Greco of Gainesville, FL, Brian (Gail) Greco of Chatham, IL, David (Tammy) Greco of Glenarm, IL, Megan (Chris) Jones of Springfield, IL, Trish (Zack) King of Glenarm, IL, Vinnie (Emily) Greco of Glenarm, IL and Mike (Rachel) Greco of Chatham, IL; one daughter in law, Sherry Greco of Sun Prairie, WI; twenty-three grandchildren; and one great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dom was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Al Greco; one granddaughter, Madeline Greco; one brother Alfonso “Bunky” Greco; and two sisters, Rose Moore and JoAnne Bateman.
Dom attended Cathedral Grade School and was a 1961 graduate of Griffin High School. He worked for IBM Corporation and the State of Illinois for over twenty years each. While at IBM, he rose from an entry level position to upper management and won the National Service Award at IBM three times. He continued his management career with the State of IL, implementing the first on-line licensing system.
Faith was a very important part of Dom’s life. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chatham. In his free time, Dom enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling and hunting with “the boys”. Most important in Dom’s life was his family especially his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 IL Rt. 4, Chatham, IL 62629. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Funeral Mass: Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Molloy and Rev. Teddy Adukus, concelebrants.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Private family burial will be held at a later date at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in Glenarm, IL.
