Dolores I. Baker, 78, of Springfield passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on March 17, 1933 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Robert and Grace M (Binney) Smith. She married Floyd Baker in Springfield on July 31, 1964. She worked for many years until she retired at Land of Lincoln Bank. She was an avid Cardinals Fan and enjoyed going out to eat with her family. Dolores was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lalla Rookn Chapter 218, the Abeba Temple #42, and Daughters of the Nile. Dolores is survived by, her loving husband of 47 years Floyd Baker, daughters; Pamela Schmidt of Springfield, Deborah Harris of FL, Brenda (Carl) Smith of FL, and step-son, Charlie Baker of Springfield, her grandchildren; Joseph (Valerie) Schmidt of Urbana, Amy (Jason) Schmidt of Springfield, Timothy (Sabrina) Smith, Kimberly (Craig) Davis, all of FL, her great-grandchildren; Jacob, Taylor, Shane, Bryce, Julia, and a great-grandson due in Spring 2012, her brothers; Robert M (Donna) Smith Jr. of Springfield, and Harry “Butch” E Smith of Auburn. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard, sister Carol, and great-granddaughter Sage Michelle. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen, Springfield, 62703. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Rev. Alvin Dial will conduct the services.
