Bill was born in Berlin, IL August 16, 1938 the son of Oscar James and Rosalie Elizabeth (Inskip) Clark. He married Norma Jean Groce in Springfield, October 11, 1956 and she survives.
Bill is also survived by his children: Michael William (Mary) Clark, Thomas Wayne (Vicki) Clark, Brenda Lee Clark, all of Springfield, David William (Donna) Clark Jr., of Pleasant Plains, IL, Patty Jo Hildebrand and Gary Leroy (Melissa) Clark of Springfield, 17 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Letta Jane (David) Burge of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Pamela Clark and 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Bill served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a watchman with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and later retired from the maintenance department of the Springfield Park District after 22 years of service. He was an old car enthusiast. He owned several of them over the years and enjoyed showing them. He was an avid BINGO player.
The Clark family will greet friends at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield, on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 10:30 am until the time of his funeral service at 11:30 am. Rev. Mark Gifford will officiate. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Heart Association.
