He was born on April 2, 1946 in Lincoln, IL, the son of the late Emil and Elizabeth (Fedora) Kiliman. He married Sue Khile on June 19, 1971 in Chestnut, IL and she survives.
Mr. Kiliman retired as Executive Director of the Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission in 2006. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield and was actively involved in the Historic Sites Commission, Downtown Springfield Inc. (DSI), and Springfield Green. He was a University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener. He planned and planted the rain garden in Washington Park in Springfield and his landscaping was featured in the 2009. Master Gardener Garden Walk. The first downtown Park for a Day was in honor of his retirement.
Besides his wife Sue, he is survived by 2 sons, D. Bryant (wife Melissa) Kiliman of St. Louis, MO, and Daymon (wife Sarah) Kiliman of Omaha, NE, sister-in-law Sherri Khile, brother-in-law Jon (wife Ann) Khile, mother-in-law Florence Khile, and special cousins Charlotte (husband Pastor David) Bueltmann, Betty Ryan, Carolyn Marcott, and Norm (wife Pat) Mueller. Several other cousins also survive.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 from 4 pm until time of the funeral service at 7 pm. The funeral service will also be held at the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Hoffman officiating. Burial will take place on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at 10 am at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Springfield, the Animal Protective League (APL), the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
