David H. Grimm Sr., 73, of Springfield, passed away on Monday September 7, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1941, in Bloomington, Illinois to Hugo Harlan Grimm and Helen M. Holman Schultz married Linda Mouser in Heyworth, Illinois, on June 22, 1963, and she survives.
Mr. Grimm is also survived by three children: David H. “Chip” (Alicia) Grimm Jr., of Springfield, Ann Pederson of Danville, CA, and Amy Grimm of Springfield, two grandchildren: Ian Pederson of Danville, CA, and Samuel Chadwick of Springfield and his mother-in-law Vivian Mouser. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his aunt, Esther Simkins.
David attended Bloomington High School and received his Master’s Degree in Business Education from Illinois State University and taught at Rochester High School for 34 years. He was one of the very first teachers at Lincoln Land Community College where he taught for many years. At R.H.S., he coached the girls' softball team and was the Faculty Advisor and Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook Committee for many years. David loved playing and watching a variety of sports including playing in competitive softball leagues.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday September 12, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 2941 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends for a memorial visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, at 12 o'clock on Saturday at church.
