He was born on October 14, 1958 in Springfield, the son of the late Darryl Eugene and Dorothy Jean (Mathis) Bentley.
David served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Simplex in Springfield and later worked for HyVee in Springfield.
He is survived by his 2 children, Janelle Bentley of Reno, NV and Brandon Bentley of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Cameron Bentley, Lilly Bentley, Emily Pierce, Aaron Pierce, and Amanda Pierce.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Diane Bentley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. A memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
