Dana Lynn Lovekamp, 51, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on November 10, 1969 in LaGrange Park, Illinois, to Joseph and Dawn Libera. Dana married Thomas Lovekamp at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield, Illinois on May 27, 2006, and he survives.
Dana is also survived by her father, Joseph Libera of Springfield; Mialese Libera of Mason City, Illinois; Sister in law, Lori Lovekamp (husband Timothy) Hartigan of Bluffton, South Carolina; Sister in law, Lisa Lovekamp (husband Hugh) Abrams of Winnetka, Illinois; Nephews Nicholas Libera, Ryan Hartigan, and Nathan Hartigan; Godmother Barb Bowman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dawn Heckman Libera.
After graduating from Pleasant Plains High School in 1987, Dana received her B.A. in Communications from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2011 and her M.S. in Management and Organizational Behavior from Benedictine University in 2019. Dana was a Communications Facilitator for Memorial Health System in Springfield.
Dana was an avid runner and was very active in the local running community. She also enjoyed cycling and hiking, gardening, cooking, and needlepointing. Dana was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was Vice President of her neighborhood association (CCNA).
A private funeral service was held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Arenzville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.LLS.org; please specify gift donation in memory of Dana Lovekamp.
