Clarence L. Senor departed this life Friday, May 13, 201 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois. Mr. Senor was born November 17, 1929 in Springfield, Illinois to Alphonso Senor and Elizabeth Senor. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alphonso R. Senor, and cousins reared as his siblings- Willa Piphus, Carol McClanahan, and Adward Newton.
Clarence married Peggie Neal January 2, 1951. He was educated in the Springfield Public Schools and Foster’s Printing School and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Senor retired from the Springfield Fire Department.
Clarence was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church, Springfield Association of Retired Firefighters, American Legion Post 809, and a Yokefellow in the Frontiers International, a former member of the Falcon Drum and Bugle Corps Board of Directors, an avid bowler, a referee and coach of the Southeast Packer Football Team.
Clarence is survived by wife Peggie, four sons; Clarence Neal, Lester Kevin (Linda) Herman (Valeria), Mark; four daughters; Mary (Fred) Nunn, Deborah (David) Burns, Candice (John) Trees, Patricia (Donald) Carter; grandchildren, David Freeman, Davida Fanniel, Peggi Gant, Vaughn Williams, Marc and Matthew Nunn, Jessi and Johanna Trees, Dr. Alexandra Lockridge, Daniel Burns, Sierra; Sierra, Demetrias, Herman II, William, Markala, Adrienne, Brittney, Courtney, and Destiny Senor; eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a cousin, Betty L. Work who was reared as his sister, a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at the host church, Union Baptist, with services beginning at 11:30 am. Retired Presiding Elder Sammy L. Hooks officiating. Interment at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Sydney Burrel Scholarship Fund or Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
