She was born in Springfield, IL, the youngest daughter of Edward J. Lehmann and Mary J. Lehmann. Christine graduated from SHG in 1971 and earned a bachelor's degree from UIS in 1974. She retired from the Illinois Secretary of State where she worked as a Motor Vehicle Regulation Technician II.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Leslie S. Lehmann; and her son, John Edward Rigney.
She is survived by her sister, Marcy McBride(Gary) of Rochester; her daughters, Stephanie Ambrose(Michael) and Kristen Branham (Evan), both of Springfield; her son, Lee Rigney of Chicago; her nieces, Amy Calandro (Dave) and Michelle Moore (Erick); her nephew, Steve McBride (Jolene); and her grandchildren, Victoria Rigney, Edward, Erin, and Stella Ambrose, and Sunny and Milo Branham.
She was an animal lover who enjoyed gardening, thrifting, collecting antiques, family game nights, and lively political conversations. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately called her “G.C.” She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt whose unique brand of humor and individual spirit will be truly missed.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at St. Agnes Catholic Church 245 N. Amos, Springfield, IL. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
