Charles Rogers

He was born in Pana, IL, May 8, 1931 the son of the late Lee P. and Helen M. (Biehl) Rogers. Charlie honorably served the United States Army from 1952-1954 earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Charlie married Jean Carroll Sandell June 20, 1979. She preceded him in death April 25, 2019, just shy of their 40th wedding anniversary. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jim Rogers.

Charlie began his career with Sugar Creek Foods in Chicago as a purchasing agent. He later worked for Booth Fisheries and then retired in 1992 from the State of Illinois Central Management Services where he served as a procurement manager. He was an active and devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church LCMS for many years.

Surviving are Brad Gates and his four sons; Austin, Jackson, Harrison and Carson all of Anthem, AZ, a sister, Barbara (Ron) Brewer of Decatur, IL, sister-in-law, Joann Rogers of Champaign, IL, his step-children: Ron (Sharon) Kerst of Livermore, CA, Leigh (Josh) Asher of Scottsdale, AZ and Suzanne Kerst of Springfield, IL, a step granddaughter, Tamara (Andres) Jaeger and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements are in the care of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL where the family will greet friends and family on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 10:00 am-12:00 noon. A graveside service will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Pana, IL at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joshua Traxel officiating.
