Charles A. Fisher, 78, of Sherman, passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Villa Healthcare East after a brief battle with cancer. Charles was born July 15, 1935 in Hopkinsville, KY, the son of Helen L. Rooney and Russell B. Fisher. He grew up and lived in Springfield for most of his life. In 1954, he met Alice Ann Wente in Springfield and they married in Mattoon, Illinois on October 15, 1955. He worked hard and provided for their family of seven, including their children Charles Edward, Lori Ann, Paula Jo, Brad Alan and Jennifer Lynn. Through his example, he instilled a sense of hard work and integrity in his children, and through them, his grandchildren. He was one of the most social people those who knew him ever met. He was smart and a leader; serving in management positions throughout his career, including at Lloyd's Cleaners and the Holiday Inn East. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; a son-in-law, Donald Pighetti; and two infant great-grandsons, Jack Pighetti and Maks Fisher. He is survived by his wife, Alice Fisher of Sherman; his children, Charles E. (wife, Stacy) Fisher of Chapel Hill, NC, Lori Ann Pighetti of Winter Park, FL, Paula J. (husband, John) Magdich of Auburn, Brad (wife, Kelli) Fisher of Sherman; and Jennifer L. (husband, Derek) Eastep of Columbia; eleven grandchildren, Zachary, Isaac, and Seth Fisher, D.J. Pighetti, Angie DeMers, Meghan Haycraft, Taylor Magdich, Aaron, Abbie, and Ahabb Fisher, and Delaney Eastep; eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Avery Pighetti, Casey and Dylan DeMers, Maia and Luka Charlie Fisher, Myles Haycraft, and Annabelle Fisher-Boehme. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Gathering will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. John Vianney , 902 Saint John Dr., Sherman with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
