Charles C. “Chuck” Cash, 85, of Springfield, died at 7:32 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital. Chuck was born February 18, 1918 in Whiting, Indiana. He married Dorothy Enders in 1941. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude; stepfather, Roy Piper and four brothers, Jack, Keith, Bill Piper and Ray Cash Mr. Cash was employed by the trucking business for 42 years, retiring in 1980. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving during WW II in Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He was awarded the European Theatre of Operations with five bronze stars. He was a member of Teamsters Local 916, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 755, Elks Club #158, Moose Club of Tarpon Springs, FL, American Association of Retired People (AARP) and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife: Dorothy of Springfield; one daughter: Denise Hlad of Chicago; one son: Jeff Cash of Tulsa, OK; one grandson; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Remains were cremated. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph School, 1344 N. 5th St., Springfield, IL 62702. The family of Charles C. “Chuck” Cash is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
