She was born on February 20, 1946, the daughter of Gerald and Stella Pennington Gee. She married Richard Miller on April 24, 1977, in Springfield; he preceded her in death.
Carolyn had worked at a few area banks. Later in life, she attended Millikin University obtaining her associates degree as a surgical technician working at Memorial Hospital. She later worked as a secretary for ILCAAAP. Carolyn was a faithful member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene where she sang in the choir and assisted in the nursery. She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, doing cross-stitch, playing cards (especially pinochle) with family, and watching Hallmark movies.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Sam Draper; a sister-in-law, Helen Gee; and a brother-in-law, Joe Hand.
Carolyn leaves behind her daughter, Madalyn Draper of Springfield; a son, Eric (fiancee’ Amanda Becker) Wilson of Riverton; eleven grandchildren, Danielle, Samantha, Nicholas, Noah, Jacob, Caleb, Abigail, Isabella, Xander, Lily and Colton; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Brody, Caleb, and Justin; her siblings, Lanore Hand of Oberlin, KS, Eleanore (Jerry) Englebrecht of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Gene Gee of Oberlin, KS, and Jerry (Beverly) Gee of Rye, CO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation to be provided prior to ceremonies by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A Memorial Ceremony for Carolyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 1108 N. Daniel Ave, Springfield, with Pastor Ronald Waltrip officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
