Carolyn R. Becker

She was born September 25, 1927 in Springfield, the daughter of Robert and Florence Arnold Rennick. She married Robert Becker in 1945. She attended schools in Chicago and Springfield, graduating from Springfield High in 1945.

Callie was a homemaker, church secretary, and a former professional model in Chicago. She was a member of the End-time Handmaidens and Servants Missionary Organization and was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was a former member of the Springfield Civic Garden Club, Christian Women’s Club, Women’s Aglow, Sangamo Club, Power Puff, Art Association, Eight O’clock Dance Club and several bridge clubs.

She volunteered at Memorial Hospital as a “pink lady” and in the pharmacy department. She was involved in the S.I.U. Geriatric Mentor Program. She was a teacher’s assistant at Vachel Lindsay School and room mother four times. She lived and worked at a missionary headquarters off and on. She hosted members of the Billy Graham team in her home when they were in Springfield for the Leighton Ford Crusade and held Bible studies and prayer meetings there also.

She loved to travel, visiting family and friends along the way and attending Charismatic conventions. She enjoyed reading (especially the Bible) and attending Bible studies and church. She was devoted to her family and her Lord.

She enjoyed studying American Indian culture, Abraham Lincoln history, and Frank Lloyd Wright houses and designs. She loved interior decorating and flower arranging, old movies and her dogs.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert; 2 sons--Robert Stephen Becker, Mendon, IL and Scott Becker, Standish, ME; 2 daughters—Sharon (Richard) Marshall, Ventura, CA and Sheila Becker, Lakewood, CO; 5 grandchildren—Angela Durkin Foster, Thomas Becker, Matthew Foster, Ashley Marshall and Jane Becker; 3 great grandchildren—Justin Foster, Alexis Becker and Casey Rowland.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 19 at Roselawn Memorial Park under the direction of Boardman Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Griffis officiating.
