Carol Payne

Loretta "Carol" Payne, 83, of Loami, passed away at 10:34 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Carol was born on July 15, 1934 in Franklin, the daughter of Russell and Violet Head White. She married George Payne on July 25, 1953 in Loami; he preceded her in death on April 21, 2013. Carol was a graduate of New Berlin High School. She worked for the State of IL as an accountant for approximately 30 years. Carol enjoyed watching her St. Louis Cardinals, traveling, bowling, word and jigsaw puzzles, sewing, cooking, and murder mysteries, but most of all, spending time with her family. Carol was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four children, Joni Payne of Westlake, OH, Tom (Alice Christensen) Payne of Springfield, Brian (Barbara) Payne of Springfield, and Sharon (Rick) Sonnemaker of Petersburg; two grandchildren, Brandon (Brooke) and Bethany Sonnemaker, both of Petersburg; four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Braelyn, Brody, and Brenna Sonnemaker; eight siblings, Norma Kochman of Springfield, Ward White of CA, Lillian Fulscher of Middletown, Larry (Sheryl) White of CA, Jim (Vicki) White of Glendale, AZ, Gerry (Doddy) White of CA, Paula (John) Trello of Springfield, and Gary White of CA; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Loami Christian Church, 309 East Center St., Loami. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Loami Christian Church with Pastor Anthony Bliss officiating. Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
