Brenda K. Moody

She was born in Springfield, June 27, 1944, the daughter of Ross E. and Minnie () Hewitt Sr. She married William “Bill” Moody in Springfield, March 20, 1965 and he survives.

Also surviving are her two daughters; Connie Parnell of Springfield and Shirley (Joe) Hayes of Jacksonville, IL. She has five grandchildren: Kristen (Amber) Landers of Lincoln, IL D.J. (Ally) Landers of Silverdale, WA, Jennifer Parnell of Ashland, IL, Rebecca (Audy) Rouland of Jacksonville, IL and Nicole Motley (Jon S.) of Sherman, IL and four great grandchildren: Liv and Edie Landers, Owen Motley, and Effie Rouland. She is also survived by her three sisters: Sharon (Steve) Petrilli of Mechanicsburg, IL, Pam O’Daugherty of Springfield, IL, and Angie Vespa-Chaudoin of Riverton, IL, her brother, Joe Vespa and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ross Hewitt Jr.

Brenda retired in 1996 from Franklin Life Insurance Co. She was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul.

Brenda volunteered with the Ansar Shrine helping with their pork chop dinners. She loved to shop, especially with her family, crochet, ensuring each daughter and grandchild had at least two blankets designed and handmade from her, enjoyed going to tea rooms and was an avid Bunco player.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Entombment will follow there in the Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions to the Shriner’s Hospital.
