Billie Carroll Hanselman, 71, of Springfield, died at 6:10 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Johns Hospital. Billie was born May 26, 1946 in Englewood, TN, the daughter of William and Bonnie Sisson Brown. She married Michael William Hanselman on November 20, 1965 in Springfield; he preceded her in death on April 16, 2017. Billie graduated from high school in Dalton, GA and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force where she was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base and then joined her husband in Wiesbaden, Germany where he was stationed. She also worked full-time for many years at the Air National Guard and the Army National Guard. She was employed in public relations for CILCO and volunteered at St. Johns Hospital in the gift shop. Billie enjoyed going to her Bible Study Group, loved movies, crafts, going to garage sales, flower gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Zakary; and siblings, Kenneth, Jim, Brenda, and Kathy. She is survived by her daughters, Natalie Hanselman of Springfield, Tammy Hanselman of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Peggy Hanselman of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Natasha, Hannah, Justin, Jakob, Jessika, Emily, Tristin, Isabella; two great-grandchildren, Paige and Kendra; two brothers, Ronnie Brown of Athens, TN and Gary Brown of Englewood, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry W. Doss officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense providing military honors.
