She was born in Trenton, MO, on December 25, 1935, to Olan and Mildred Walker. She married Stanley Richard (Dick) Sapp in 1977. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2016. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Beverly graduated from Springfield Feitshans High School in 1953. Her career began at Sangamo Electric where she worked from 1977-1978. She then worked for the State of Illinois working at both the State Police and State Fire Marshall’s office before retiring in 1986 from the Illinois State Lottery.
She was a member of West Side Christian Church, the Red Hat Society, and an active member of the Elks and Elks Ladies. Beverly was also involved in numerous golf leagues, including the Bergen Park Q-Tees, Pasfield Ladies League, and the Lincoln Greens Ladies League. She and Dick were members of the Grasshoppers Golf League. Not only was she a huge fan of golf, but she was also an avid Chicago Cub’s fan. Beverly enjoyed caring for her home, traveling (especially to Arizona for the winters), and flower gardening. She touched the hearts of everyone she met and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Beverly is survived by her two children, Dave Stoutamyer of Shelbyville, KY, and Julie (Kevin) Spencer of Springfield; brother, Ron (Cheri) Walker of Springfield; grandchildren, Kala (Drew) Dickason of Springfield, Kyle (Kelli) Johnson of Springfield, Tyler (Gwen) Stoutamyer of Chandler, AZ, and Sam (Jessica Marie) Stoutamyer of Myrtle Beach, SC; great-grandson, Kainan Dickason, who she always enjoyed; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at West Side Christian Church, 2850 Cider Mill Ln, Springfield. A Ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Harney officiating. Inurnment will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
