Barbara J. Hirsch

Barbara June Hirsch, 79, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday February 23, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on August 1, 1936 in St. Louis to Walter Ben and Lillian Cooper Donner. Barbara married Bernard Hirsch on December 31, 1960 in Chicago and he survives.

Mrs. Hirsch is also survived by her children: Stephanie June (Steve) Hirsch-Spears of Bloomington, David B. Hirsch of Springfield, Danielle L. (Ryan) Hirsch-Recinto of Chicago, and Roxanne McDowell of Chicago, her mother Lillian Donner, four grandchildren: Maia and Levi Recinto and Madison and Tucker Hirsch, siblings: Gladys Marsh, Walter Ben Donner Jr., and Joan Frost all of Chicago as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Hirsch and brother Ronald Donner.

Barbara was a drug addiction counselor at Hay Market House and the University of Illinois Chicago and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, restoring furniture, painting, cooking, and traveling the western part of the United States. Mrs. Hirsch was a Jehovah’s Witness.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday March 5, 2016 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday at Bisch West.
