Barbara Jean Chesser, 68, of Springfield, passed away at 2:02 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Johns Hospital. Barb was born August 28, 1950 in Dayton, OH. She married Bill A. Chesser on December 17, 1977 in Springfield; he preceded her in death. Barb owned and operated Tomahawk Awards for 34 years. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the LWML, and Optimist and German Clubs. She volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and served as a buddy on Land of Lincoln Honor Flights. Barb also loved bowling and camping. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Melissa Whipp. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Tom) Goldstein of Springfield; step-daughter, Laura (David) Goetting of Percy; four grandchildren; sister, Connie Orear of St. Louis, MO; several nieces and nephews; and companion, Randy Fritz of Chicago. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Sam Janssen officiating.
