Asta "Kris" Durr

Asta "Kris" Durr, 63, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at her residence. Kris was born on February 3, 1955 in Springfield, the daughter of Vytautas and Lore Maria Braun Balkauskas. She married Terry Durr in 1980 in Chatham. Kris was a graduate of Springfield High School. She earned her bachelors degree in Education from Sangamon State University and her masters degree in Education from IL State University. Kris was an elementary school teacher for District 186 for over 35 years. She enjoyed retirement and spent a lot of time reading and entertaining her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her three children, Scott (Kathryn) Durr of St. Louis, MO, Steven (Savannah) Durr of Springfield, and Stefanie (Michael) Rueck of New Lenox, IL; two grandchildren, Owen and Andrew Durr; one brother, Michael (Mitzi) Balkauskas of Springfield; one sister, Karen (Michael) Durr of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
