Antoinette "Toni" E. Marx

Toni was born on March 9, 1933, in Kincaid, the daughter of Floyd and Geraldine Durbin Gasparin. She married James R. Marx on January 29, 1954, at St. Patrick’s Church in Springfield.

Toni was a graduate of Ursuline Academy. She then attended St. John’s School of Nursing and the College of St. Frances before working as a Registered Nurse. She was on the Illinois State Hospice Association Board of Directors for 8 years, was co-founder of the Bereaved Parents Association of Springfield, and the Senior Citizens Board Director for 4 years. Toni was also part of the ISHO Senior Center Alumni, the Ursuline Academy, and St. John’s School of Nursing Alumni. She loved spending time with her family and cherished her grandkids. Toni never missed a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. She was a talented painter and created many beautiful pieces. Toni and Jim enjoyed spending time at their family cabin at Matanza Beach and winters on Sanibel Island, FL.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rico Marx; her parents; and two brothers, Gene and Jim.

She is survived by her husband, James R. “Jim” Marx of Springfield; three sons, David (wife, Dianne) Marx of Cape Coral, FL, Tim (wife, Alaina) Marx of Springfield, and Dan (wife, Chris) Marx of Springfield; one daughter, Beth (husband, Jim) Mayfield of Springfield; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 E. Sangamon Ave, Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. George Philip Nellikunnel, S.A.C., celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
