Anna Rose Daugherty Spengler

Anna was born on May 12, 1921 in Hardinsburg, KY, the daughter of Guin Daugherty, and lovingly raised by her grandparents, Peter B. and Lillie Daugherty, in Bentown, IL. Anna was married to Norbert W. Spengler, who preceded her in death.

Anna’s employment included positions as: a secretary for the Illinois House of Representatives in Springfield, IL; Clerk of the Village of Wilmette, IL; and secretary for the legal department of the City of Evanston, IL. She was a loving and dedicated gardener who enjoyed participating in the Springfield Civic Garden Club events. Anna served as a Samaritan at St. John’s Hospital after retirement for over 15 years. She loved animals, bird watching, traveling, and sewing.

Anna was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, a brother, Peter Daugherty, and her daughter, Karen Oveson.

She is survived by her son, David (Theresa) Spengler, Mary Spengler, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by her Daugherty clan and many dear friends.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. -10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in the Chapel at Concordia Village, 4101 West Iles, Springfield, IL.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in the Chapel at Concordia Village, Chaplain Chris Nilges officiating.

Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
