Allen "Buck" Buchholz, 64, of Springfield, died at 11:16 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Buck was born May 31, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Martin and Madeline Kirkpatrick Buchholz. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron Buchholz. Buck proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and canoeing. He earned his bachelor's degree in aeronautics from SIUC and was a Senior Helicopter Mechanic for the State of IL. He is survived by two daughters, Vicki Cornish of Raleigh, NC and Michelle (husband, David) Peruzzi of Eielson, AFB AK; three grandchildren, Kathryn Cornish, and MaKayla and Anthony Peruzzi; his companion of eighteen years, Carolyn Binion of Springfield; and several cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. George Heineman officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
