Alice Ann Elder, 80, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at her residence. Born October 29, 1931 in Charleston, Illinois, she was the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth Davis Hettick. In 1955, she married Dr. Robert Kinser, D.V.M. He preceded her in death. In 1978, she married Bernard �Barney� Elder. Her parents; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Workman and brother, Robert Hettick, preceded her in death. Mrs. Elder is survived by her husband, Bernard �Barney� Elder; son Aaron (Becky) Kinser of Watkins, IA; stepchildren: Tom Elder of Chicago, IL; Melinda Gardner of Mechanicsburg, IL; Jim Elder of Chicago, IL; Michael Elder of Texas and Jeff Elder of Florida; grandchildren: Rachel and Robert Kinser of Watkins, IA; Andrew (fianc� Nikki Reeves) Workman of Springfield, IL and Stephen Workman of New Berlin, IL; sister Nancy Riggs (Lou) Costello of Greenfield, IL and several nieces and nephews. Previously, she was a kitchen supervisor at St. John�s Hospital. A member of Laurel United Methodist Church, Mrs. Elder was a member of P.E.O. International. She was an avid reader and supporter of the Rochester Public Library. Memorial Gathering to celebrate Alice�s life will be held at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, on Sunday, January 1, 2012, from 2-4pm. Private family burial will be Monday, January 2 at Toledo Cemetery. Memorials: Rochester Public Library District, PO Box 617, Rochester, IL 62563. Cremation rites were accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois.
