Linda grew up in Dayton and graduated from Meadowdale High School. She went on to attend Sinclair Community College where she studied to be a medical assistant and fell in love with working in the medical field. After earning her degree, she started her career as a tech in the hospital which led to working as an office manager for several physicians in the Dayton area and where she met her future husband. She married Lawrence Harker, DO in 1979. They enjoyed 40 years together until his passing on January 18, 2019.
Linda loved to cook and spent many hours in the kitchen cooking and entertaining. Her love for the culinary arts led to furthering her education to become a chef. While she never officially worked in the field, her family and friends enjoyed the benefits of her favorite pastime. She also loved traveling, watching baseball and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a large blended family including daughter, Jennifer Kerr (Jim) and bonus children Ken (Cathy) Harker, Cindy (Mike) Wilson and Randy (Lynda) Harker; grandchildren Sydney, Andrew, Ryan (Shawna), Chance (Amanda), Kayla (Phil), Ali (Nico), Nick and several great-grandchildren; brothers Jeff (Jean) Klopfstein and John “Butch” Klopfstein; sister-in-law Sherri (Ken) Nahan and brother-in-law Stephen (Linda) Harker; several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life to honor Linda will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s name to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati (dsagc.com) or to the charity of your choice.
