Kenneth Henry Winner, 82 years old passed away on Sept 25, 2024. Kenneth was born August 16, 1942 to Alexander and Alma Winner. Kenneth is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Jerry Winner and his sister Marilyn Schlater. Kenneth is survived by his 3 children, Angela Hijazi, Kristina Winner-McDaniel, and Mark Winner. He has 3 grandchildren Nawal CiaraMitaro (Sam), Noureddine Hijazi, and Sarah Hijazi. Kenneth spent much of his young life living in Burkettsville on his family’s farm. He loved playing with the animals on the farm and a family dog that they had. The Winner family was Catholic and went to church regularly. Their religious faith was important to them and Kenneth would go on to raise his own family Catholic. The family spent a lot of time with other extended family members so his cousins were his friends. Richard Tumbush was his favorite cousin who he spent much time with throughout his life and into adulthood. Kenneth had a love of baseball and he was the short stop on his baseball team. He also played the trumpet in high school and would later teach his daughter Kristie to play trumpet. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1960. After high school, Kenneth went to Sinclair and studied Drafting which is now called Mechanical Engineering. In 1966 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 2 years in Guam during the Vietnam War. He was a Staff Seargant and was honorably discharged in 1970 from the Air Force. When he returned from Guam he married Marilyn Winner and they had their first child in 1972. Kenneth lived in New Bremen Ohio from 1970 to 1977 when he returned from Guam and worked for Stamco Corporation. In 1977 the family moved to Piqua Ohio due to Kenneth getting a job for the Hobart Brothers in Troy Ohio. He worked there from 1977-1984. Kenneth studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Dayton and got his BS in Electrical Engineering in 1989. The family would live in Piqua for approximately 22 years. In 1984 Kenneth started working at Minster Machine in Minster Ohio were he retired. Kenneth would later come out of retirement and work for Dickman Supply in Sidney Ohio until 2014.Kenneth enjoyed reading, playing baseball, watching football, basketball, and baseball. He was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Bengals. He liked to read, work on computers (built computers), enjoyed Civil War books and movies, and hiking. As he got older he would go visit his kids and grandkids often bringing them candy and M&M’s. He spent several years assisting with the grandkids taking them to school or watching them.Kenneth was a very quiet man who didn’t always have a lot to say but when he did it was either something very important or funny. He had a sarcastic sense of humor which kept the family laughing. He will be remembered as a very good-natured man who never complained about things. Everyone he met liked him. He had a very strong work ethic and focus on education and modeled this for his children. He would help them with their Calculus, Physics or Chemistry work in school. He enjoyed good food and especially loved ice cream and sweets. Most importantly Kenneth loved his kids and his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, from St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 9579 Yankee Road, Springboro, Ohio. Interment will follow in Springboro Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the mass on Friday at the church.
