Marvin Doberman

Marvin Doberman, age 91, of Monsey, New York, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024. Marvin was born in Skuodas, Lithuania on July 27, 1932. He came to America in 1939 with his mother and 5 siblings to reunite with their father. He grew up in the Bronx where he studied at the Aviation Career & Technical Education High School and graduated with a degree in education from City College in Manhattan. In 1963 he earned his masters degree from City College. He taught wood shop for 38 years in the Mount Vernon School District in Westchester. Marvin met the love of his life, Barbara, on the beach in Rockaway. They were married in 1957 and were together for 66 years. They had 2 daughters, Lisa Lockyer (Charles), Helaine Young (Eric), and four grandchildren, Dylan Lockyer (fiancé Mackenzie Meldrim), Allison Young, Daniel Lockyer, and Julia Young. Marvin loved the beach, swimming, exercising, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY 10977. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NY 07652.
