Margene Cole Backman

Margene Cole Backman of Ponce Inlet, Florida, formerly of New City, New York passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015. She was 74 years old. Mrs. Backman was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She is survived by her loving husband Dr. Ronald G. Backman, her children Donna Torrance, Carla Passafiume and her husband Michael, and son Neil Backman, and her grandchildren Melissa, Matthew, Jacob, Sara, Megan, and Heather.

Mrs. Backman first worked at Vanderbilt University as a medical technician, and later in her husband’s dental practice. Her passions were all sporting events especially, The New York Yankees, The New York Giants, as well as tennis. She loved to read and was an expert of the political field. Margene was gifted in crafts especially painting, crewel embroidery, and cake decorating.

Her greatest pleasure in life was to be in the company of her grandchildren, who she adored and showered with love.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2015, 11:30 AM, at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah Chapel, Paramus, New Jersey, with entombment following the service. Memorial contributions in Margene’s memory may be made to the United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, New York 10956.
