Leila Schwartz, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, with her family by her side. She is survived by her children, Glenn and Jill, 5 grandchildren Alee, Dylan, Carli, Paige, and Toby, and 2 great-grandchildren Jones and Murphy. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Samuel and Shirley Berkowitz and was the eldest to her 2 siblings – Marcia and Danny. Leila valued education and graduated from Russell Sage College, later becoming a home economics teacher. Here she met the love of her life and husband of 67 years, Lenny. They travelled the world together, making friends everywhere they went. She raised her family in Monsey, NY and later lived in New York City, Lake Luzerne and Saratoga, NY – though Leila was always a New York City girl at heart. Known for her infectious laugh, feisty personality, and never forgetting to send a card on your birthday, she will be dearly missed.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652. Please arrive by 10:00 AM. Contributions in Leila’s memory can be made to Hadassah or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
