I don’t know if this the appropriate forum for my comment but I’ll make it in the hope it will ultimately reach one of his siblings or children—and they will contact me:

I had a childhood friend named Harry Juris when I lived in Brooklyn, NY in the 1950s.  I lived at 2412 62nd Street near where 24th Ave and Dahill Road intersect.  We were close for a while but lost contact around the time we entered college. I went to Stuyvesant HS in Manhattan so perhaps that is where we originally met—I just don’t recall if we met there or were just neighborhood friends.  I distinctly recall that Harry was going to enter (or wanted to get into) the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy (MMA).  I was born in 1939 (same as Harry) and graduated CCNY in 1962 (about the same time Harry graduated from the MMA).  

For some unknown reason, Harry’s name popped up in my memory last  evening -- so I did an Internet search on him only to find that he passed away this past May.  While I am not certain this Harry is the same person I knew years ago, there are enough coincidences to make me believe that they may be the same. 

I would love to have someone from his family contact me to ascertain if Harry was in fact my childhood friend. If anyone in his family or any of you out there that know members of his family sees this, please call me to chat about Harry.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Harry but comforted he is at peace and with others that have gone before him such as his beloved wife, Celia. I watched the amazing service and the heartfelt words you all spoke.

I met Harry over 40 years ago when I stopped for a disabled vehicle on I-287 WB, tuning to CB emergency channel 9 and someone from the team responded to me. This was a time before the CVS Samaritan, DOT HELP vehicles and cellphones. Harry was on patrol at the time, received the call and immediately drove to the scene. After assisting the motorist and sending them on their way, I told Harry "You folks do a great job! Too bad there aren't more of you out here." He handed me a donation envelope and said as only Harry could, "Join us."

Well, suffice it to say, I joined Westchester County REACT and over the years, participated in many special events and road patrols, some with so much snow coming down, most smart people were trying to get home. But not us! We were out in the snow, assisting those in distress trying to get home. I recall while on some road patrols, the Paul Simon song, Slip Sliding Away! Those were special times I shared with Harry and I will remember them fondly.

After I moved back to Albany, whenever I came down for a REACT event, Harry and Celia put me up at their house. They were like a second mother and father to me. I cherished the time I was fortunate enough to spend with them.

I know how difficult this time is for all of you as I lost my Father in May two years ago. When someone so close to you, someone you love so much is gone, it leaves a huge hole in your heart, weighs heavily on your mind and dampens your spirit.

You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Please take comfort as I do, that Harry will live on forever in our hearts and in the fact we will see our beloved Harry again! He is gone but by no means forgotten and missed terribly by many.

Harry as a kid always had a bit of mischief follow him.  When I was in maybe the 2nd grade Harry and family came to visit  grandma and my family on Linden Blvd in Brooklyn.  Somehow I found myself going out  Uncle Leo's bedroom window onto a shed and then jumping off the shed to the ground.  The ground was higher than my height.  After we got up we went into the house and did it again.     Love,  Ronnie                                                                                                                

My late husband  Stephen Sellinger and I had many enjoyable times with Harry and Celia at Nyack Boat Club, sitting on the patio sharing life stories, cruising and rafting together at Bowline Point and other destinations.

I loved Harry’s sense of humor and his wit.

RIP Harry.  

May his memory be a blessing.

Harry was a longtime member of the New York Guard, serving with myself and my late husband, Col James Ryan. He was there when I lost Jim in 2020 and it meant so much to me that he showed for us. I wish I had known he lost his wife in 2021. I would have been there for him too. 
So many road trips for SEMO, but the best was the activation while we were at Annual Training in Peekskill and had to get to Nine Mile ASAP. Harry drove. We got there. Nuf said.
He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. 
He will be missed.

The surviving '61 Class members of the Calif Maritime Academy (as we knew it), send our heartfelt condolences to the Juris family at this sad time saying farewell to a classmate and shipmate who was part of a unique maritime academy located in the State of California.

Working at West Marine in W. Haverstraw was always fun, especially when Harry was there with me.  We shared many stories with each other, with our boss and customers,  our love of the water and a fascination with sailboats and sailing.  His crossing the bar is sad, but his memory will be a blessing.

My deep condolences for the family of Harry Juris.  I have fond memories of our sailing trips through the years along with joint work at the Nyack Boat Club.  You will be missed.
