Ellen Solomon, 83 years old, passed away with grace and dignity with her family by her side on July 13, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Ellen's journey was marked by a passion for life and a deep commitment to her loved ones.
Ellen attended Erasmus High School and later pursued an education in accounting. In the early years of her profession, she met Stanley, the love of her life, on a blind date. They quickly fell in love and were married soon after. The family grew quickly with the births of Michael and Alison in the following years.
As the matriarch of the family, Ellen also co-founded "E My Name is Ellen," a cherished dollhouse dealer and later, a retail clothing business in Hillsdale, NJ, with her cousin, Ellen. Her creativity, fashion style, and entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly in these endeavors.
Ellen's zest for life extended beyond business. An avid player of Scrabble, Mahjong, and Monopoly, she enjoyed lively games with family and friends. Her impeccable style, love for design, and all things beauty earned her the title of fashionista among those who knew her best. Later in life, Ellen discovered a newfound passion for tennis, becoming an enthusiastic spectator of the sport. In a twist of fate, one of her favorite players, Alcaraz, won Wimbledon today.
Family was paramount to Ellen. She delighted in exploring her hometown of New York City, sharing shopping excursions, dining adventures, and Broadway shows with her loved ones. Her recent trip to Mexico was a testament to her courageous, yet reserved spirit, when she was the first one into the water to swim with dolphins, surprising and delighting her family.
Above all, Ellen's measured and deliberate approach to life ensured she was deeply involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and friends whom she cherished beyond measure. Her legacy of love, loyalty, and dedication will forever be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Ellen is survived by her loving children, Michael Solomon and Alison Joachim; her adoring grandchildren, Luke Solomon, Sofia Joachim, and Alex Joachim; and her dear niece Amy Lapidus, as well as cousins Vic and Wendy Silvera, and her godchildren Eric and Emily Silvera. She joins her late husband Stanley, her late brother Carl, and their parents, Harry and Dina Lapidus, in eternal peace.
In honoring Ellen's memory, her family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life, remembering her laughter, warmth, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a beacon of strength, dignity, and grace.
